Rants & Humor
Was thinking about those random posts you read -- you know the ones - where they are telling you what you should not do or wear once you are past a certain age. Then thinking at myself still wearing my PJ bottoms, out in the front yard, digging away to make sure that with the next rain the excess water runs down the street and not onto my front porch. You think PJ wearing outside was on one of those lists? Maybe they missed that one, but you know what? I surely did not care. I was focusing in on something that needed doing.
I am also sure those people writing those posts are getting paid to tell me not to wear t-shirts and jeans or have long hair cuz I am too damn old. My advice to them? I hope you take a few of those sticks out of your rear when you get a little older. You will find a bit more peace with your life that way. Other advice, add a location to what you are referring to. Or a type of business. Maybe it is appropriate there. Don't make your post sound like the end all advice, appropriate for every location and situation. Because it's not.
I am a partner in a brewery. I am a grandma. I also teach at a local community college part time and do graphic art. I gave up coloring my hair this year and am letting that grey/white grow out. I am an avid gardener in the small bit of free time I have. Also appears I am a collector of animals. 3 cats, 2 dogs, 2 slider turtles and one giant tortoise live here with us. A collector of people too since 11 people live here too.
I do wear t-shirts, jeans and sneakers at work. I pour beer and lift kegs. I eat far too many pretzels, especially when there is no time to grab a real meal. I do a lot of work online. I use old and new computers. I have been known to play a left handed electric bass. I love my customers and students. I get tired and forgetful. And am just fine that I do many things on the "Do Not Do" & "Do Not Wear" lists. ;)

You are perfect my friend! Nothing wrong with jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. You are you and that's who we love ❣️
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely NOT an "Old Woman" and all of the things that make up the fey, delightful essence that is YOU, are the reasons that I was immediately drawn to you as one of your Web Design students years ago. You are a wise, insightful and "comfortable" woman to know and be a friend to... just perfect for someone like me who also still has long hair and wears jeans & t-shirts at the ripe young age of 60. This was a wonderful read. <3
ReplyDeleteWise Elder, I've been told to think of myself as becoming. You, too. I'm Feb 24, you're Feb 27. Similar mission, similar rebel tendencies.
