The Happiness Way to Go
My husband sent me a link to a short article on being more happy. What a great idea... the article (REAL SIMPLE: How to be Upbeat-ish, even if you're a skeptic) had several ideas on how to be happier , things you could do each day... To me the funny thing was they included doing some "bad or negative" things as well, but to give them only a short piece of your time.
I like that. Only give negative thoughts ten minutes. Your time is up, we are back on the happy track here. Or your appointment is for 3PM today. Please go away now and come back later. And of course by then, maybe that negative thing is not the pebble inside the snowball of poo that ruins your whole days emotion. Nope, come back later - hah - and maybe I'll forget.
They even gave you room to think about the worst case scenerios, but instead of wallowing in the pit of despair, we should STOP, and instead think, wow I do live in a pretty good place, I have a wonderful spouse/significant other, I do love my family even though they are not perfect (wahoo that is a whole nother topic for a post -- heehee).
Plus that list three good things each day. Small or big. Those are the treasures of the day.
For me today, or actually yesterday since I am awake in the middle of the night, here are some:
We had a customer ordered two - 5 gallon kegs of beer. Things have been slow due to the pandemic, so it was good to get an order from a small tasting room in San Diego. We got a later start than we meant to and of course worried about being late... but the person we were supposed to deliver to at 10:30 did not show up and we got there closer to 11 and the owner showed up right then. Whew. So that ended on a happy note.
of course we were still running late, so we had to rush back to set up the tasting room, and I went home to collect all the things we needed to get things working for the day after helping set up the outside tables. Good thing John stayed as we had a few customers right away and then later more favorite customers came in. Always good to see them.
Our DIL and granddaughter came to see us at work too. We have a family that comes in, so the two kids got to play a bit together. They've done this a few times recently and its been a nice break for them. That was a happy thing to see them playing with the drums, eating chips, and running around a bit in the nice afternoon sunshine.
I had made a healthy salad to eat while at work, but never got to it. Ok so I did eat some of the cookies I brought -- haha... But the salad was a nice addition to dinner. It was my dinner but it was big enough to share, so John had some too. Full of good veggies from the Farm to Home veggie box.
So many good things to appreciate. Family, friends, home. The joys of life, let them bless you every day.
